The Barn, The Plow, The Snow!

by admin on January 28, 2010

Well, we do live in the Colorado Rocky Mountains and with it comes snow. Here’s a photo I snapped of the snow plow that comes up to clear our private road.  You can also see the barn and where it stands in relation to the house. I thought it helped to give a little more perspective on the size of the property.

One of the most beautiful times of the year up here on the mountain is Christmas. It truly is a magical experience.

Are you planning on spending the holidays skiing at Steamboat? If so, why not save some time and schedule a viewing of the house while you are in the neighborhood?

Feel free to contact me via email and i’ll warm up the hot chocolate.

Best Wishes and Happy Holidays! Hope to see you soon.

snow

Life in Colorado can be full of surprises…

Just two days ago my wife and I took our sports car for a drive through the twisting mountain roads near our home.  The top was down, the sun was shining and the weather was still in the 60’s, which was rare considering it is November, so it was hard to imaging that winter was just around the corner.

Then all of a sudden, today we received the first serious snowstorm of the year, which provided the Steamboat Ski Resort with the much needed powder we were all waiting for to launch into the opening of the annual ski season. Being avid ski fanatics, we were hoping for no delays for the opening day on Mount Werner (our so called money making machine for the region) and we were pleasantly surprised.

The close proximity to the Steamboat resort was the main reason we chose to build our luxury home and live here. It truly is an amazing experience to just hop in the car and have such quick and easy access to world class skiing, and there is so much to do!

Every year, the area is filled with eager tourists that come to visit and enjoy the crisp, champagne powder, downhill racing and indulging themselves in drinks and relaxing messages at the spa at our 4 star luxury resort.

After a long day on the hill, we love to take a trip up the road, where you can just grab your swim suit and take a long soak in the local hot springs filled with fresh mountain mineral water under a clear starry Rocky Mountain night sky.

We love it here in Steamboat, and we are certain you will as well.

I feel it is important to explain some of the key reasons why I use the words “strategically located” to describe this luxury home in Colorado, located in Stagecoach, in order to better clarify why I feel this home is truly an investment opportunity of a lifetime.

An Outdoor Mountain Paradise

The home is located on 20 acres of land in the upscale, gated residential community of The Meadows in Stagecoach, which is located just 20 minutes south of the famous Steamboat Ski Area.  The property directly borders the Routt National Forest which is an outdoor recreation paradise for adventure seekers, offering hiking, camping, horseback riding, boating and in the winter, cross country Nordic skiing, Ice fishing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and dog sledding.

The property overlooks the Stagecoach Reservoir, which is fed by the Yampa river world renowned for it’s gold medal fly fishing, and the reservoir itself is home for record breaking lake trout, sockeye salmon and pike.

Potential Hidden Gem for Real Estate Development

One of the things that drew me to build this home is it’s close proximity to the Old Stagecoach Ski Mountain. In the early 1970’s a large development plan was put in place to build the Stagecoach Ski Area, located just a few short miles away on 2800 acres of prime ski real estate. It was intended to be a private ski resort, exclusive only to local home owners, slopes were created and lifts were built.  The surrounding area was developed, a beautiful state park was created, and the Stagecoach reservoir was built.  2000 homes were planned including a golf course and retail property.

Unfortunately the developers of the project, the Woodmoor Corporation, filed for bankruptcy at the end of the 70’s and the resort was boarded up, as it remains today, however the area is currently up for sale and primed for a revival.

Similar private ski community projects in the area are currently being built, including the Mt. Holly Club in Utah, Battle Mountain in Minturn, CO and it is certain that it is only a matter of time as to when this land be purchased and begin development.

The Secret Wine Room

by admin on November 4, 2009

One of the most extraordinary features of the property is of course, the secret wine room. When I had the house built in 2007, I wanted to add some really special features that made it stand out from all the other mass market “McMansions”.

I had always dreamed of having a grand luxury home with a secret passageway like in mystery stories and movies and also being a fan of fine wines as well, it seemed like the perfect match, so I worked closely with the architects to create something really spectacular.

The result was the Secret Wine Room that is accessible only by a hidden book case. It was designed with an old European flare with a hand carved wooden wine rack, vaulted ceiling, stone walls and floors and heavy wood beams which I decorated with accents to add to the castle dungeon style ambiance.

Directly adjacent to the storage room is a wine tasting room with a heavy wooden table, copper sink and fixtures and hand painted wine leaf accents. The photos really in my opinion do not do the room justice, as it is really something you have to see to truly appreciate. A true work of art, a wine enthusiast’s dream and an exciting experience for your guests to discover.
